Welcome to Mugs for Muscles! I’m Mason Woodruff, an ex strength and nutrition coach turned food blogger. I’ve been blogging since 2014 on masonfit.com about fitness, training, nutrition, and recently, lots and lots of food.
I started blogging shortly after finishing a degree in nutrition and food science. Like most, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life after college, but I knew I wanted to create content centered around healthy eating and living.
Fast forward a few years and now I blog almost exclusively about food and recipes geared towards calorie conscious eaters. You may see the terms flexible dieting or macro friendly floating around, but I like to call my recipes low calorie and high protein.
One of my primary goals with recipe development is simplicity. That means short ingredient lists, minimal steps and equipment, and no 2,000-word stories about the recipe. I would be doing simple a disservice otherwise, right?
Healthy eating doesn’t have to be all organic and hard to pronounce ingredients, bland, or overly complex.
My goal of simplicity really sparked an interest in microwave cooking over the past year. So much so I published a cookbook, Short & Sweet, with an entire section dedicated to 5-10 minute recipes. And now, I’m taking it a step further by launching Mugs for Muscles to house all the mug cakes, one bowl, and super quick healthy recipes under one roof.
On Mugs for Muscles, you’ll find recipes all over the healthy eating map. Everything from high protein and low calorie to low carb, low fat, meat-free, breakfast, desserts, or anything in between. Since my approach is flexible, I aim to provide recipes for every need.
